About the author

Brahmacharini Mirabai (1926–2006) was a nun of Yogoda Satsanga Society whose devotional singing expressed the divine longing and “soul force” that Paramahansa Yogananda extolled in Indian music. Formerly Srimati Renuka Sen, shewas an acclaimed devotional singer, instrumentalist, and teacher of classical and religious music. She and her late husband, Sri Sachinandan Sen, were longtime disciples of Paramahansa Yogananda, and founded the Yogoda Sangeet Kala Bharati (Yogoda School of Indian Music) in India. Prior to becoming a renunciant, Brahmacharini Mirabai performed regularly on All-India Radio and became known throughout India for her artistry and beautiful interpretations of classical Indian bhajans and chants.
